The Mountain Watershed Association is concerned with the conservation, restoration and protection of the Indian Creek Watershed in Westmoreland and Fayette Counties, Pennsylvania. In 2003 we partnered with the international Waterkeeper Alliance to create the Youghiogheny Riverkeeper, a program of MWA, and we've since expanded our vision into the larger Youghiogheny River watershed.
We are a non-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. We have over 850 members. Please consider joining!
Our major purposes include bringing about remediation of the numerous abandoned mine discharges resulting from over 125 years of mining in the Indian Creek Watershed, developing community awareness, promoting cooperative community efforts for remediation and encouraging sound environmental practices.
