Make a Year End Contribution to Ensure a Successful 2018

As 2017 comes to a close we are reflecting on an incredibly successful year for our organization and our river community. This success would not have been possible without your generous support. We are grateful for your energy, your creativity and your wisdom. Your past investments have made the following possible: We secured Exceptional Value status, reserved for Pennsylvania’s cleanest streams, for Stony Run in the Indian Creek watershed as a result of a petition we submitted to the Department of Environmental Protection. This designation will result in more safeguards for this beautiful...

Swimmable Waters Sampling has Begun!

As the school year nears its end and we start looking forward to warmer weather and time spent on the water, happy people are flocking to the Youghiogheny River watershed.  We can help you make an informed decision about where you can safely splash or swim.  We will be testing popular swimming, wading and paddling spots around the watershed for E. coli weekly between May 1 and September 30.  Data will be available by Thursday of each week.  E. coli, and in particular one strain called O157:H7, is an emerging cause of foodborne and waterborne illness.
