Trips for Kids Laurel Highlands
What do Water Bugs have to do with Bicycling?

Everything, if you're participating in a Trips for Kids Laurel Highlands Bicycling Ride! This program is a unique approach to environmental education. Participants experience environmental education at its best-- hands on-- as they pedal through the scenic Indian Creek Valley. Our rides are led by experienced environmental educators, and we can even supply your group with bikes and helmets! We welcome reservations from families, school or church groups, or scout troops. Review our brochure to learn more! Please also visit our sponsors and the Trips for Kids National website.

School Outreach

MWA regularly visits public and private schools in our area to facilitate environmental education programming for students. Led by a professional educator with a Pennsylvania teaching certification in environmental education, these programs can be 30 min. hands-on activities in the classroom or 2 hour nature hikes outside or anything in between! We also own an Enviroscape, an interactive tool for teaching students about point source and non-point source pollution, and we are happy to bring it into your classroom. We can tailor our programs to meet the PA Academic Standards for Environment and Ecology. These programs are also appropriate for scout and church groups. To inquire about our school programs, please contact Krissy.

Presentations for Civic Organizations

We have presenters available to speak to your organization on a variety of topics. We offer guided tours of our watershed and our AMD Projects for your membership and we are also available to give presentations about the status of our projects and the Indian Creek Watershed. We also have a True Cost of Coal presentation that details the costs associated with using coal as a fuel source. For more information or to schedule a presentation, please contact us!
